Climate Change

If elected, I will make climate change action a priority. I believe that we are already seeing the effects of climate change, and they constitute a grave threat to the social and economic well-being of our citizens.

Health Care

I believe in establishing state-based universal healthcare: high quality, sustainable, affordable, publicly-financed, privately-delivered health coverage for all Washington residents.

Affordable Housing

Housing supply and affordability issues are affecting every community in Washington's 12th Legislative District. Overall, about 400,000 Washington households are paying half their monthly income toward housing, yet affordable housing is defined by the county as equaling no more than 30% of an occupant’s gross monthly income. State and local governments need to continue to work toward solutions so residents have more money at the end of the month to stimulate local economies instead of pouring most of their financial resources into high rents.

Economy & Infrastructure

As a state representative, I would focus on improving broadband services in both rural and urban areas of our district.

I’ve been an educator for 17 years, so I’m passionate about the quality of our education in Washington state.

Washington is simply not producing the tax revenues required to service a state with 7.4 million inhabitants. Washington has the most regressive tax system in the country. We have no state income tax, so we tax the purchase of taxable goods, as a percentage of personal income in Washington state. However, people don't buy taxable goods like they did 20 years ago, mostly due to the internet. So we are losing out on millions of dollars in revenue that we need for basic public services.

Initiative 1631 (Carbon Fee)

Let’s take back some of the power from greedy multinationals like Phillips 66, Chevron, BP, and Shell--whose profits were in the billions last year--and force them to pay for polluting our environment and contributing to the greenhouse gases that accelerate climate change.
